Your cellar stays yours.

Last updated July 12, 2026. This page explains what Home Wine Cellar stores, where it lives, and what control you have over it.

Overview

Home Wine Cellar is designed around a simple principle: your wine collection belongs to you. The app doesn't operate servers that store your data, doesn't sell or share data with advertisers, and doesn't include third-party analytics or tracking.

What the app stores

When you use Home Wine Cellar, it stores the information you choose to enter, including:

  • Wine and winery details, vintages, grape varieties, and prices
  • Photos you take of front and back labels
  • Bottle counts, wall/row/column locations, and purchase, lay-down, and drink-by dates
  • Ratings, value scores, and tasting notes
  • Any collection data you bring in through CSV import

All of this is saved to the private iCloud database associated with your own Apple ID, using Apple's standard iCloud infrastructure. It is not copied to servers operated by Home Wine Cellar or Cedar Studio, because none exist for this purpose.

On-device food pairing

The AI food pairing feature runs using Apple Intelligence directly on your device. Your collection data is not transmitted to us, and Apple Intelligence's on-device processing does not send your wine data off your iPhone to generate a pairing suggestion.

What we don't do

  • We don't operate a server or database that receives your collection
  • We don't use third-party analytics or advertising SDKs
  • We don't sell or share your data, because we don't have access to it

Your control

You can delete any wine, photo, or your entire collection at any time from within the app. Because the data lives in your iCloud account, deleting it in-app removes it from iCloud as well. You can also stop Home Wine Cellar from syncing entirely by turning it off under Settings → [your name] → iCloud on your device.

Children's privacy

Home Wine Cellar is a tool for cataloging wine and is not directed at children. It is not intended for use by anyone under the legal drinking age in their region.

Changes to this policy

If this policy changes, we'll update the date at the top of this page. Continued use of the app after a change means you accept the updated policy.
